sin and salvation from an “Eastern” pov
Check out Sunday’s message I gave, if you’re so inclined. It’s not that long but too much so to post here.
I published it through google docs here.

wow … I realize that is an overview, but … it really resonates (and that’s not quite the right word) with Jewish theology. Which makes perfect sense since Christianity is by nature an extension of Judaism.
Have you been reading Scot McKnight’s new series on the New Perspective on Paul? He’s been covering some Jewish theology there … it’s pretty interesting.
yeah, the priest of St. Paul’s where Revolution meets twice a month was there on Sunday and he said the same thing about the Jewish understanding and we spent a bit of time afterward talking about how there isn’t a “fall” as such in Jewish ideology. I personally resonate much most strongly with this perspective and believe it’s more consistent in emphasis and tone with the first church.
Interestingly enough, I recently wrote about a dual-perspective of sin, but from a completely different angle. Your document deals with what sin means, whereas I wrote about what it means to sin.
Interesting.
Anyhow, here’s my writeup, if you’re interested.
As commentary on yours, I would point out that regardless of which approach you take on the sin nature, both the OT and NT deal quite extensively on the judgment (immediate or otherwise) on particular sinful acts. Would you agree that specific acts are to be associated with guilt (in the criminal sense), whereas only the nature is to be viewed as a disease?
It also sounds very similar to the position of Pelagius and the Celtic church on original sin. I’m still researching it … but they seem very close …
thank you… thunking now
