walking…walking…and more.
In our quest to be more responsible stewards of this earth and to be more intentional in our daily decisions, we have walked to church a couple times over the past month or so. The first time it wasn’t that far (about 3 mi. total) because it was to our alternate church locale. Today, we walked to our usual location which was over 4 mi. Then this afternoon, we walked to the park (only several blocks, but after 4 mi. this morning, it felt further). I think I will be stiff tomorrow, I’m already kind of feeling it. We walked at a very fast clip this morning so as to get the aerobic benefit and not be late for church - it took us about 35 min. to walk over 2 miles each of us pushing a stroller (me pushing Shayel who weighs close to 40 pounds)
In other news, Aliyah was very snuggly with David today, it was so cute. She climbed into his lap and cuddled several times while he read her books and actually reached to him several times, wanting him to hold her. She is also “talking” to him a lot, using her “da-daaa” word. I loved this change in attitude with Shayel and forgot how much until seeing it now with Aliyah. I think Aliyah is taking a bit longer to click with David because by this age, Shayel had weaned herself from breastfeeding (Aliyah shows no sign of letting up) and Aliyah is spending a bit less time with David than Shayel did (naturally).
We talked a bit today about adoption. Now that Aliyah is almost 1, David is getting into it a bit more again. A’s birth and all the attention she required as a newbie zapped some of his enthusiasm temporarily. Shayel keeps insisting she needs a brother but David is actually thinking about another girl. I’m ok either way but a boy would be cool…in fact, I think brothers would be cool…then we’d have 2 of each. But we will probably leave it up to God and keep our application pretty open. We’ve decided to stick with domestic adoption through the foster care system. I’m sure it will prove to be an exciting journey. We will probably start officially this fall/early winter.
